Ruby Lee Woods Groce Black passed away May 18, 2016 after a long illness, at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro, Ga., where she had been living with her daughter and son-in-law. Ms. Ruby was 81.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Debbie Parmer and late husband, George L. Black, Sr.
She is survived by one daughter, Sherry Johnson and Mike of Statesboro, 6 grandchildren – Wendy Beasley and Kevin of Metter, Christian Johnson of Statesboro, Colton Johnson of Statesboro, Son-in-law Tommy Parmer of Guyton, Grandson Christopher Parmer and Theresa of Guyton, Laura Ambrose and Jason of Rincon, and Matthew Parmer of Guyton, and two sisters, Ruth Ann Roberts and Troy, and Ann Williams and Brooks, of Savannah, Ga.
She is also survived by a very special and dear friend, Marion Welding of Bloomingdale, Ga., and a special niece, Glenda Harper. Also, many great grandchildren and two great- great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. Also, many friends as well as church family.
Memorial Services will be at Port Wentworth Christian Missionary Alliance Church, 222 Cantyre Street, Port Wentworth, GA, 31407, at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2016.
In lieu of flowers, family requests all donations be sent to Ogeechee Area Hospice, 1200 Donehoo Street, Statesboro, GA., 30458, or the American Cancer Foundation in memory of Debra G. Parmer, in honor of Sheron G. Johnson.
