Preston Gwyndale Walker, 77, a resident of Augusta, Georgia, retired Army and postal worker, was received into the arms of his loving Savior at Eisenhower Army Hospital on Sunday 12 September 2021. He was preceded by his parents, Gray Preston Walker and Verneice Elizabeth McGee Walker of Tobaccoville, North Carolina, and brother Dana Walker. Survivors include his wife of over 54 years, Chong Walker, brother Lonnie Walker, daughters Angie Walker of Marana Arizona and Sherrie Walker Tucker (and husband Brian), and grandson Nathaniel Tucker of Fort Worth Texas.
A 1963 graduate of Northwest High School in Forsyth Country, North Carolina, he joined the Army after graduating and was sent to South Korea. There, he met his life-long love, Chong, and they married in 1966. During his Army career, he was stationed in South Korea, Hawaii, Italy, and Huntsville Alabama. After retiring from the Army in 1987, he moved to Augusta and joined the postal service. Once he retired from the Post Office, he spent his free time playing golf and trading golf clubs in the local golf stores. In his later years, he enjoyed teaching his grandson about golf.
A memorial service will be held at the Augusta Korean Methodist Church on Saturday, September 25th at 5:30pm. Instead of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the USO.Print Obituary & Condolences
