He was born on September 17, 1937, in Raleigh, NC to the late Josephine Lane and Lester Arthur Moreadith. His sister Phyllis and her husband Devon Pollard, of Smithfield, NC, predeceased him. Fred is survived by his wife of 42 years, Barbara (Schaeffer) from Augusta, GA, formerly from Berks County, PA. He is also survived by his 4 children and 7 grandchildren: Edward E. Fred, Sr. received his BS, MS, and PhD in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC, finishing his illustrious education in 1964, Magna Cum Laude. From 1964 to 1972, he was an Engineering Professor at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. He was well respected by his peers and admired by his students. Further employment moved him and his family to Reading, PA in 1972, where he started as an Engineer at Gilbert Associates and completed this chapter at Gilbert Commonwealth as VP of Engineering in 1987. For the next 10 years he saw employment in several engineering roles at Ebasco, Savannah River Site, and VP of Nuclear Engineering at TVA. He was a member of the ASCE and on the Board of Directors of the American Concrete Institute, serving as a Fellow and on the prestigious Technical Activities Committee. He left a lasting impression on those that knew him in the College Education circles and the Engineering Profession, namely nuclear power engineering and concrete containment, with his ability to lead others with knowledge and compassion. His attention to detail and leadership skills, along with care for his fellow peers, are some of many qualities his surviving family will remember and cherish.
