Is a Casket Required for Cremation?
NO, a casket is not required for cremation. Most crematories will, however require a rigid, combustible, leak-proof, covered container. This minimum requirement is also referred to as an alternative container and is required for sanitary reasons and allows a dignified manner in which to place the deceased into the cremation chamber.
